Description:
For quite some years people have been wary of purchasing vehicles that are powered by traditional fuel. Most of them were worried about the fact that the earth’s reserve of natural fuel was limited and would get depleted one day. If this was not enough, the escalating prices of fuel in the recent past and the worldwide economic have driven the last nail in the coffin. More and more people are nowadays looking for alternatives to fuel propelled cars and the best alternative for them are hybrid cars.
All leading car manufacturers have started manufacturing cars that run on alternative sources of energy and keeping this in mind, Mazda has finally entered the hybrid scenario with its Mazda Tribute Hybrid that provides the same convenience and size that the regular Tribute offers along with the additional benefits that only a hybrid powertrain can give. The 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid is the latest addition to the hybrid lineup of Mazda. This car is basically a redesigned Ford Escape Hybrid that uses the similar powertrain including many of the same interior parts. The Mazda Tribute Hybrid is not the only vehicle to do so, since the Mercury mariner has also borrowed a lot of its design from the Escape Hybrid.
Overall this means that persons looking out for hybrids from the summer of 2008 will have the option to choose between three different flavors of the same type of vehicle. Boasting of the same type of continuously variable transmission plus 2.3 liter engine and electric motor combination employed by the Escape, which permits it to have a combined 155 HP, one can be assured that the Tribute will be both a capable and practical utility. As far as acceleration is concerned, the Mazda Tribute Hybrid can be compared to the 200 horsepower V-6. This helps a lot while driving the car in higher-speed traffic and also in interstate on-ramps.
While Mazda has not released data about the fuel economy of the 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid, it is expected that it will be the same as that of the Ford Escape Hybrid. The EPA has estimated the latter to provide 34 miles per gallon while driving in the city and 30 miles per gallon while driving on the highway in front wheel drive mode and 29/27 MPG in the city and highway respectively. One can drive the Mazda Tribute Hybrid as speeds not exceeding 25 miles per hour on electricity power only, which is comparable to the Escape.
As far as style is concerned, the engineers at Mazda have done a change about with the Mazda Tribute Hybrid. This particular model is more traditional and boxier. This makes it stand apart from the other cars by Mazda and other crossovers that have a sporty and sleek look. The Mazda Tribute Hybrid is a low-key model and it shows that Mazda’s engineers were more eager to adapt the drivetrain of the Escape instead of creating an effort of creating some excitement and buzz for the Mazda brand.
